a week in my life

hi friends! I know it’s been a few weeks since I’ve hopped on here, so that’s why I thought it’d be perfect to return with a “week in my life” blog, showcasing this past week of mine! side note, can we believe that it’s november already? absolutely insane! but tbh, I’m writing this listening to the queen of Christmas, none other than Mariah Carey. of course all my weeks are different, some more boring than others, definitely some more busy than others, but either way, I try to make the most of mine - I hope you can too!

friday october 29th

at my university, it was family weekend, so my peeps came down to visit me! it was only for 3 days, but we wanted to soak up the few days that we had together! we headed to the arena at my school for a volleyball game and halloween event that my school was putting on, featuring trick or treating and introduction of the men’s and women’s basketball teams for the upcoming season. it was so nice to channel all that school spirit with them and show them the arena! my family are proud FGCU fans!

saturday october 30th

it was our first fall like day here in Florida, so it was a little too chilly for us to head to the beaches. instead, we headed out for a tour of my favorite side of town - Naples! there’s no shortage of shopping here - which if you know me, you know that’s all I need haha. real talk though, it’s so beautiful down here, always showcasing sunshine and endless palm trees, no wonder everyone from the north comes down here! we headed to the Waterside Shops and capped our night off on Marco Island at one of our favorite restaurants. it was a simple day, but these moments with my family are what I cherish the absolute most.

sunday october 31st

no tricks on halloween for me, just treats! the family was headed home in the afternoon, so we spent the morning hanging out and then they went on their way. it’s always a little sad when they leave, but it’s less of a goodbye and more of a see you later ;( I spent the night studying a bit and catching up on my classwork - the harsh realities of sunday nights in college!

monday november 1st

finally november! november is just such a happy month for me, it’s the start of the holiday season! plus october is always still hot so come november it’s time to bust out my hoodies when it dips below 70 degrees, like a true Florida girl. mondays are typically my longest days on campus since I have about 4 hours worth of classes. I started my day at 7:30 and got to campus at about 8:20. your girl was tired, so I headed to the campus einstein bagels for a bagel and of course, coffee! bless whoever decided to put restaurants like that right on campus, so convenient! after I enjoyed my breakfast and a little study time, I headed to my first class - creative writing! once that was done, I went to the library and studied for a few hours for my next class - biology. I really do spend a lot of time in the library studying, it’s just way more conducive of an environment than my dorm, because then I will just want to sleep! I ended my classes at about 4:30 and then headed back home for dinner and some gym time! the gym is always such a nice decompress for me, for that hour, all I have to worry about is working out. after a shower and chill time, it’s lights out at 11:00!

tuesday november 2nd

normally I have one class on tuesday but it was canceled, so it was my lucky day! I spent the early afternoon at the basketball arena, getting some behind the scenes shots from a video shoot with the players. for those of you who may not know, I work with my university’s men’s basketball team doing social media! when I started college, did I think that a few months later I’d be managing a D1 basketball team’s instagram? absolutely not, but I’m grateful that I do! getting to work alongside the players and coaches is so enjoyable, and I can’t wait for the season to begin! shameless plug - follow @fgcu_mbb on instagram! shoot for the stars guys, you never know where it will land you! after making a reel and getting that posted, I spent some time catching up with a friend and doing some classwork, then ending my day at the gym again. one of my favorite things about the gym on campus is the group fitness classes they offer - I’ve been doing Zumba throughout the semester and I love it! I’ve got to meet some new friends and I’d like to think I’m becoming a better dancer, but I’m a little bias ;) and it wouldn’t be a tuesday night without the bachelorette - where are my fellow fans at?!

wednesday november 3rd

wednesday looked like monday regarding class work and what not, so not the most exciting but definitely productive! the highlight of this day though was definitely when lululemon dm’d me on instagram. I had tagged them in a picture of my gym outfit from the night before, shout out to the align tank, ily, and they wrote to me about it on wednesday morning! such a cool moment.

thursday november 4th

another early start to my day and back to back classes - but I have to keep my motivation up as the semester is nearing its end! there’s only a few true weeks of class left so I’m powering through. I took a government test and continued studying, but I grabbed dinner with some friends so that was a nice break! I saw a post for college girls from @thegracevalentine on instagram, and it was so inspiring. she wrote, “Study for the test, do some squats, don't trust that random punch by random frat boys, and get brunch with your lifelong friends who will one day be the godparents of your future children. But even when college feels so busy and you think you have so much to do, always remember being kind and loving is more important. Make friends with your neighbors, be gentle with all your professors (even the hard ones), and talk to the stranger in your class. When you die no one will care if you were in Greek Life, if your GPA was somehow higher than the gas prices (very hard in these times), and if you had the best tailgate outfit. Your legacy is your love. Being loving is more important than being all the things. So instead of being distracted by all the things that need to be done, trust that being loving is the most important thing you can live out.” it is so easy for us to get caught up in what life can deal us, and trust me, some weeks, it’s been a lot. we automatically resort to survival mode, kind of abandoning our hope just to get to the next day, but we forget about the one thing that we always can control - love. Slow down, do what you enjoy, and just hold onto love - I promise that it will mean so much more, to yourself, and others, than you think.

friday november 5th

it was a rainy day, so I wanted to sleep in so bad, but I did the adult thing and made my way to writing class. luckily, an impromptu breakfast at chick-fil-a with friend brightened up my morning! after class, it was back to the arena for basketball - getting some content, making some graphics, planning my posts, the whole package! luckily, time flies when you’re doing something you enjoy. I ended my week with a spa night with some friends, doing nails, face masks, and just having fun - it’s the little things!

overall, it was a pretty good week, and I hope that you guys enjoyed getting a bit of an inside look on what I do! like I said before, it’ takes time to get into a routine and every week is different, but I know that no matter how hard things may get, we’ll be just fine. check out my week in photos below, have a great weekend friends! <3
