hellooooo health screenings!

hi friends! today, let’s chat about something important that you may not be thinking about—health screenings! health screenings may stick out in your mind like a visit to your least favorite office (the doctor’s haha), but in reality, they can be something as simple as keeping an eye on your blood pressure each week!

overall, health screenings are like your body’s way of giving you a heads-up. they help catch any sneaky issues or trends in your vitals before they turn into something serious. just like we take our car to the mechanic every few months for an oil change or some routine maintenance, why wouldn’t we do the same for our bodies! regular screenings for stuff like high blood sugar can help you stay ahead of the game and keep you feeling your best.

so, what should you be looking out for? it really depends on your age and family history. I’m in my 20s, but I know I’m not invincible! even small changes in your blood pressure, heart rate, sleep quality and quantity, or other vital signs can signal the need for a little extra attention from your doctor. elevated blood pressure is classified as a reading of >120/80 mmHg, and of course, if left untreated, can lead to serious issues. I’m attaching an infographic for more details about the link between blood pressure and activity levels! at-home monitors like this one from CVS are just one tool to help you take control of your health!

I get it—making those appointments can feel like a hassle, but it’s totally worth it. by getting your health screened every once in a while, you are investing in your future self. we want to thrive, not just survive!
