my very first blog!

hi friends! if you’re reading this, then you have found your way to my blog - yay! I’m so very glad that you’re here. if you want to read a little bit more about me and why I started this site, head over to the “about” tab, then make your way back, I’ll still be here! I was going back and forth about what this first post should be - a running post, an encouragement, an all about me post, lots of things! with it being the end of a truly eccentric year and 2021 on its merry way, I thought a reflection would be the most fitting. this idea stems from one of my favorite pictures of me taken this year, in which I was standing in front of a Hyde Park mural that reads “clean hands & kind hearts.” when I originally saw this mural, the first thing that came to mind was the COVID-19 pandemic that has overtaken us of course. I saw a literal meaning - we should always have kind hearts, but it has been as important as ever to have clean hands, to protect ourselves and others. I thought it was a cute photo op to signify the times. looking back, the photo has adopted a new meaning to me, it’s given me a perspective of what I want my new year to encompass. I will continue to embody a kind heart, but having clean hands will not be as literal. in 2021, I want clean hands to signify freedom. like the popular saying, “wipe your hands of it,” I want our metaphorical hands to be wiped clean of any of 2020s gunk. this year has brought a lot, between physical things that have plagued the public like sickness and economic despair, and also intangible things like isolation and strained relationships. all that being said, we have had a lot of burdens. as we step into the new year, we should clean away all of our dirt and revel in hope. we shouldn’t let our struggles tarnish our view of things anymore, but instead we should let our hearts be free as we seek the good! I believe that this year has highlighted growth, insight, and reevaluation of the things that are really important to us. 2020 has pushed us to be the versions of ourselves that we currently are, and I think that’s pretty cool! on to 2021 though, a year that I’m praying will be filled with joy, love, and more unity than ever before… God’s got us. well, I guess that brings me to the end of my first blog, whew! remember, clean hands & kind hearts! ;)
