provision and protection

hi friends! it has been a minute since I’ve taken to the blog, I’ve been keeping busy with traveling and spending time with friends + family this summer, but I am so excited to be writing this message today! I hope that in reading this blog about God’s provision and protection, you feel encouraged, loved, and ready to receive the great things that you deserve.

so recently, I have been trying to be a lot more tuned in to hearing God speak to me, and truly listening to what He is telling me. many people may think that if they don’t hear a sort of booming voice from the sky saying, “hey there, it’s me God”, it’s hard to recognize when God is speaking to you. in reality, there are many ways that God can speak to you, including through His word, dreams, other people, and even our day to day experiences. for me today, it came in the form of TikTok - I am sure that y’all can attest to how much TikTok comes into play in our lives right? I mean the hauls, life hacks, even news, TikTok has it all. but anyways, I had just woken up, said a prayer, and then headed to the app for a quick scroll on my for you page (which is completely random but like its title suggests, the videos are truly for us haha). there was a string of videos from various creators, all talking about God providing for us and protecting us. normally I’ll see a video or two a day from a Christian creator, but seeing a bunch of videos after I had just spent some time talking to God was so encouraging! in watching those videos, I realized how much I related to what those creators were saying, and I knew that was how God chose to speak to me today.

so now, I want to share a little bit of what touched me, and hopefully it’ll touch you too! in Matthew 6, verses 25-27, it is stated “‘Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?’” here we read about how it is so normalized for us to worry, especially about things that we need. food and clothes are kind of a given, but how likely are we to worry about other things? very likely. how are we gonna pay the tuition that’s due this semester? can I get a promotion at work? when am I gonna find supportive friends or a boyfriend? these are all valid questions, and sometimes trying to balance all these things gives us a sense of control, but it is incredibly daunting. the good news is that God is the ultimate provider. these verses continue with saying that God cares for birds, such small creatures, so why should we have any doubt that He will do the same for us? along those same lines, if you’ve received what you have been praying for, you don’t have to worry about losing it. in John 21, we are able to read the story of the disciples struggling to catch fish, when Jesus appeared on the shore and called to them to try again. they trusted in what Jesus said and in verses 10 and 11 we read, “Jesus said to them, ‘Bring some of the fish you have just caught. So Simon Peter climbed back into the boat and dragged the net ashore. It was full of large fish, 153, but even with so many the net was not torn.” even with that quantity, the net didn’t tear, the fish were safe. God protects what He provides. we live a world where people are constantly chasing, and then when they get what they’re chasing, they grip onto it tight, fearful of losing it or leaving it for something greater. it doesn’t have to be like that though! I promise you that when God provides, He is blessing you for all the right reasons. thank Him and revel in the goodness!

as I finish up this blog, I want to end with a prayer.

Dear Heavenly Father,

I thank you for the person reading this page today. I pray that they would have open hearts to receive your Word, and that you would speak to them in great clarity. If they are struggling with anxiety or worry, I pray that they would trust in your provision and protection. May they feel loved and comforted, and always assured that the God who cares for even the smallest of creatures has an infinite capacity of love for us. We thank you for showing us the grace that we do not deserve. In Jesus name, amen.
