run the mile you’re in

happy global running day!

here’s to celebrating the thing that changed everything for me. running has brought me community, a calling in life, and so much joy! what I love most about running is that it’s for absolutely anyone, in any stage of life. my shirt reads “run the mile you’re in” - whether you’re in a 100m race, an ultra marathon, or anything in between, enjoy the ride. lace up those sneakers and run! and if you don’t know where to start, just take that first step, who knows where it will lead you!

the quote “run the mile you’re in” is also a great metaphor in life. when you think about it, this quote shifts our perspective from one focused on other people to one focused on ourselves. how easy is it to get caught up in comparison? so easy! your neighbor got a new car, or that old friend group from high school is doing so great, or your friend just got in a new relationship - we find ourselves asking, why not me? it is so so important to not let comparison creep in. I promise that everything meant for you will come at the right time! by focusing on the good things that are going on in your life, the little things that may seem inconvenient won’t steal your joy. instead of “why not me?”, change your mindset to, “I can’t wait for that to be me, but I’m so happy for them!” it might not always be easy, but it’ll help you in the long run ;)
