Scientific Sessions 2022

At the start of November, the American Heart Association hosted a conference for the latest discoveries, the biggest breakthroughs, and the brightest minds in cardiovascular and brain health science, all in the beautiful city of Chicago.

In September, I found out that I was selected as one of the American Heart Association’s EmPOWERED To Serve Scholars, complete with a generous scholarship and an invitation to represent the organization at this prestigious event. This title carries immense honor to me, as it means that the organization entrusts me and my fellow scholars to increase diversity and develop efforts for underrepresented racial and ethnic groups in science and medicine. The encouraging weekend I spent in Chicago gave me a glimpse of my future as a woman of color who aspires to work in healthcare - anything is possible! Saying that I’m grateful for this opportunity is an understatement, but I know that these memories, this knowledge, and these friendships will last me a lifetime. One World. Together for Science.
