2022 reset

hi friends! happy new year! I’m a few days late but it still counts for something right?

it has been a busy, exciting, and emotional december. the holidays always give us all the feels, and then just like that, we’re catapulted into a whole new year. I think that the new year is normally happy, but there’s also a twinge of sadness about it. if you had some hardship, loss, or anything like that in 2021, you may have struggled with deciding the role it would play in your 2022. phrases like “new year, new me”, “out with old, in with the new”, or similar others tell us to drop our issues like an old pair of running shoes, but I don’t think it’s that simple. I think that part of growth is recognizing that while struggles don’t have to define you, are pivotal life experiences. finding a balance between having a fresh mindset while bringing the lessons of the past is a good way to start your new year.

now that the hustle and bustle of the holidays has winded down, I’ve found myself preparing for the weeks ahead. next week starts my spring semester of college, and I’m nervous, but excited. new classes, new professors, new opportunities! to help keep myself organized, I developed this desktop template for my computer, with my calendar and tabs for all my tasks - hopefully I can keep up with it! if you want a tutorial for this, let me know!

outside of my academics, 2022 brings a few goals - be bold, put myself first, trust in God’s timing, run another half marathon, put more content out, it goes on and on! I hate to use the word resolution because I feel like society has coined it to be so restrictive haha - and most of the time it leads to broken promises. to me, goals mean that you’re doing your best to become the best, and I can work with that! life is a journey, one at times we know nothing about, so we just have to work with what we got. I love this quote from Zig Ziglar, in which he states, “Expect the best. Prepare for the worst. Capitalize on what comes.” friends, I hope that 2022 brings you the best of the best, but if it doesn’t, I have faith that you can capitalize on what it does. <3
