let’s turn it ON

hey everyone! it’s new blog day, and I’ll be talking about proper clothing and shoes, two important things in any sport! like the title suggests, this post features apparel and shoes from ON running, and I’m so excited to share about the brand! I recently won my ON items from Fit2Run Tampa, located at International Plaza. they hosted a giveaway on Instagram and my prize was choosing a pair of ON shoes and some apparel for free! shoutout to them for hooking me up, and to their associate Robert helping me pick out my perfect pair of running shoes. in these photos, I’m wearing ON’s ‘Tights Long’ and their ‘Cloudflyer’ shoe. I didn’t have any pieces from ON before (I’m a big New Balance gal haha), but I’m glad I do now! the tights are silky soft and super breathable, complete with a pocket along the waistband and zippers at the bottom for extra airflow. the sneakers are lightweight, while still providing support for overpronators and having that signature chunky sole. I can’t wait to try them out on a long run for that ‘running on clouds’ feel! now you’re probably wondering, “what is an overpronator?” runners, or any athlete really, can be classified as an underpronator, neutral, or overpronator when it comes to looking for shoes. Runner’s World Magazine describes the 3 classifications well, stating that “If you have normal pronation, your foot rolls inward about 15 percent and optimally distributes the forces of impact, so you'd choose from a variety of shoes including a neutral trainer. If you overpronate, your foot rolls inward more than then “ideal” 15 percent (common in people with flatter feet), so you’d choose a stability shoe to help evenly distribute the impact. And if you underpronate (also known as a supinator or supination), your foot rolls inward less than 15 percent (common in people with high arches), and you’d choose a shoe with extra cushioning or features to control the motion to absorb the impact.” when looking for sneakers, it’s super important that you look for shoes with your classification to help support your foot in the best way. and if you don’t know your classification, head on over to a running store in your area, like Fit2Run or FitNiche! they’ll analyze your steps and get you what you need, because they know fit! once you have a good pair of sneakers, don’t forget to replace them accordingly! as our shoes begin to degrade, the outsole weakens and the cushion of the shoe can decompress. worn down shoes can’t protect your joints from impact, meaning increased risk of injury! shoes should be replaced every 300 miles ran for runners, or every 3-6 months for other athletes. I know that’s a lot to digest, but hopefully you keep these things in mind when shoe shopping! to check out Fit2Run Tampa, their Instagram can be found @fit2runtampa, and their website is www.fit2run.com. to check out ON running, their Instagram can be found at @on_running, and their website is www.on-running.com. happy running my friends! ☻
